Abstract

Abstract

The collections of the Lilly Library at Indiana University contain a short, hitherto unpublished letter written by Alexander von Humboldt to a Lord Chamberlain of the Prussian Court. The letter appears here for the first time with some explanations regarding its historical context.

In der Lilly Library der Indiana University befindet sich ein bisher unveröffentlichter, kurzer Brief Alexander von Humboldts an einen Hofmarschall des preußischen Hofes. In diesem Artikel erscheint der Brief zum ersten Mal, und es wird versucht, den historischen Kontext des Briefes zu erarbeiten.

Resumen

En la Lilly Library de la Indiana University se encuentra una carta corta hasta ahora inédita y escrita por Alexander von Humboldt a un mayordomo de la corte prusiana. Se publica la carta aquí por primera vez junto con algunas explicaciones en cuanto a su contexto histórico.

Reinhard Andress

Professor für deutsche Sprache, Kultur und Literatur und Dekan des College of Arts and Sciences an der Loyola University-Chicago, USA. Er war Gastprofessor an der Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador. Zu seinen Buchveröffentlichungen gehören: Protokolliteratur in der DDR (2000) und „Der Inselgarten“ - das Exil deutschsprachiger Schriftsteller auf Mallorca, 1931-1936 (2001). Eine Übersetzung aus dem Spanischen ins Deutsche von Benno Weiser Varons Exilroman Yo era europeo als Ich war Europäer (zusammen mit Egon Schwarz) ist 2009 erschienen.
