Author Guidelines

Which languages?

Contributions to HiN may be submitted in German, Spanish, French, and English.

 Which documents do you need?

When submitting an article, please include:

• 3 abstracts (no longer than 900 characters each) in three of our four publication languages, with the caveat that one of them must be in English.
• a short biographical note (no longer than 500 characters).
• in case you use images, we require separate high resolution (300dpi) image files, if possible uncompressed (.tif/.tiff). Please do not include images in your text file. Always submit them separately.

What about the image rights?

The author is responsible for acquiring the rights for any images. Image references should be placed either in the text (as fig. 00) or between paragraphs. Captions must follow the article text in the order in which they appear in the article (=in which they are numbered). They must include the following information:

Fig. 00: Artist/Author, Title/Object, Year, Technique, Measures (height x width x depth), Place of Location, Collection. (Photographer/Image Rights/Publication where object appeared originally). Please note that caption titles have the same size as regular text.

Do you have any preferences about the layout?

A text file may be in any of the common formats (.doc, .docx, .rtf, .odt). It should include as little formatting as possible.

Please use the following styles:

• regular line spacing (1,5)
• please leave an extra line space before and after each indented quotation (40 words and more)
• please do not use underlining or bold text
• please do not use any tabs

Complex diagrams such as tables can be included in your text file. Please do not use text boxes.

When using footnotes, please use the "insert footnote" option of your word processing program. Do not insert footnotes manually. Use footnotes instead of endnotes.

How to reference your sources

Please quote and reference your sources correctly. Include all our bibliographical references at the end of your text and sort them alphabetically.

Einprägsam und öffentlichkeitswirksam hat Hans Küng in seinen Publikationen, Filmberichten und Medienauftritten der neunziger Jahre immer wieder jene Worte wiederholt, die er bewusst an den Anfang seines Projekts stellte: "Kein Überleben ohne Weltethos. Kein Weltfriede ohne Religionsfriede. Kein Religionsfriede ohne Religionsdialog." (Küng 1997, 13).

Wie die Moderne im Sinne von Jürgen Habermas (Habermas 1981, 444-466) ist das Weltethos ein unvollendetes Projekt.

Kaum zwei Wochen später, am 30. Mai 1837, gestand der Naturforscher und Schriftsteller, der in Berlin bei Hegel Vorlesungen hörte, seinem Freund Varnhagen von Ense:

Hegel's geschichtliche Studien werden mich besonders interessiren, weil ich bisher ein wildes Vorurtheil gegen die Ansicht hege, daß die Völker, ein jedes, etwas repräsentiren müssen; daß alles geschehen sei, »damit erfüllet werde« was der Philosoph verheißt. Ich werde aufmerksam lesen, und gern von meinem Vorurtheile zurückkommen. (Humboldt 1860, 43)
